Diploma and Certificate Program for the
Academic Year 2023-24

Successful Completion of the 2023–24 Batch

The Mahabodhi Research Centre is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Sixth Batch (2023–24) of the One-Year Diploma and Six-Month Certificate Courses in Buddhist Studies. A total of 43 students enrolled in the program. Regular online and offline weekend classes were conducted by an experienced and dedicated team of faculty, including both monastics and lay scholars, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the prescribed syllabus.

In accordance with the academic guidelines of Karnataka Sanskrit University (KSU), the final examination was conducted at the KSU Campus. Out of 42 eligible students, 12 students appeared for and successfully cleared the final exam, and were awarded their respective certificates. The Centre takes great pride in the consistent efforts of students and faculty that led to the successful conclusion of this academic cycle.

Current Batch: Academic Year 2024–25

For the ongoing academic year 2024–25, a total of 37 students have enrolled in the One-Year Diploma in Buddhist Studies. Classes commenced in November and December, and are being conducted regularly on weekends through both online and offline modes. This hybrid approach allows students to participate from the comfort of their homes, thereby enhancing accessibility and convenience.

The program continues to receive encouraging interest from students across various regions. In response to growing demand, the Centre is preparing to launch the Diploma and Certificate Courses in Hindi and Kannada, aiming to broaden its reach and promote Buddhist education in regional languages.

Diploma And Certificate Courses

It is a great opportunity for those interested in the Teachings of the Buddha in its original form, as preserved in pristine purity form in the sacred pali canon, The Tipitaka. Regular and online Courses are offered by the MRC. Currently Diploma in Theravada Buddhist Studies, Certificate and Ph.D. in Theravada Buddhist Studies are going on since five years and further Bachelor, Masters Study programs will be undertaken.

Apart from Diploma in Buddhist Studie s there will be separate Diploma in Theravada Buddhism, peace studies, Pali Language and Literature, Buddhist Philosophy, Abhidhamma Psychology Buddhist mindfulness Meditation and other relevant courses in the near future.
