Seminar / Conference
Seminar is a form of academic instruction, either at an academic institution or offered by a commercial or professional organization. It has the function of bringing together small groups for recurring meetings, focusing each time on some particular subject, in which everyone present is requested to participate.
The purpose of seminars Seminars are small group discussions organized and led by staff. The purpose of a seminar is to enable students to improve their knowledge and understanding of a topic by engaging with key issues - participation is therefore necessary and successful participation involves preparation.
In this regard Mahabodhi Research Centre conducts various International seminar / conference / dhamma talk series for Diploma and Ph.D Students on different occasions like Dhammapada Festival (Birth Anniversary of our Most Ven. Dr. Acharya BuddharakkhitaMahathera), Buddha Punnima (Birth, Enlightenment, Mahaparinibbana of Bhagawan Buddha) and other occasions like Guru Punnima, Katina Chivara Dana. Mahabodhi Research Centre invites dignitaries from various parts of world for reliligioud tolerance harmony promoting the environment in which to grow in wisdom compassion and Enlightenment.

Symposium on Smaranaajali Day – 2019-20
On occasion of Birth Centenary of our Most Venerable Acharya BuddharakkhitaMahathera, one day seminar was organized on the theme “Dhammapada – The Path to Peace and Harmony”. On this auspicious occasion well know dignitaries Like Ven. Dr. Dhammajyoti Mahathera, Asst. Professor, Nava NalandaMahavihara, Dr. S C Sharma, Director – NAAC, MolakalmuruSrinivasmurthy – Tipitaka Translator, Dr. K Ramachandra – Professor – Maharanis College, Bangalore were participated.
Dhammapada Seminar: 2020-21
Mahabodhi Research Center and Mahabodhi Monastic Institute was the brain child of Bada Bhanteji. On occasion of Smaranajali Day, a symposium was organized to express gratitude and remembrance towards our beloved teacher late Most Ven. Dr. Acharya Buddhrakkhita Bada Bhanteji on his death anniversary. On this occasion Senior monks, Samaneras Anagariakas and lay students gave a lectures and shares experiences on life and works of Acharya Buddharakkhita Bada Bhanteji, conducted under Mahabodhi Research Centre.
Vesak Seminar commemorating the Buddha Day
Every year we celebrate the BUDDHA JAYANTI (The Birth, Enlightenment, and Mahaparinibbana of Supreme Buddha) by coming together at Vihara. But this year however due to the 2nd wave of Covid-19 and Govt. Guidelines we have restricted our upasakas and upasikas by participating through online. On occasion of 2565th Vesaka Buddha Purnima Mahabodhi Research Centre has conducted a one day seminar topic on “The Life and Teachings of Buddha”. In this webinar our Mahabodhi Research Centre students presented their paper on different topics.
Smaranjali Day 23rd of September
On occasion of 7th Smaranjali of our beloved teacher Most Ven. Dr. AcharyaBuddharakkhitaThero, Mahabodhi Research Center and Mahabodhi Monastic Institute jointly organized a webinar. In this webinar there were two session. In the first session Bhikkhu Buddhadatta Bhikkhu Buddhapala, Bhikkhu Nyanarakkhita, and Bhikkhu Bodhi Citta shared their experiences. When it comes to the second session MudnakuduChinnswamy, Dr. C Chandrashekar, Dhoke, Kumar, Dr. K Ramachandra and other devotees participated and shared their experiences.

Webinar on occasion of Vesak Buddha Jayanthi for the year 2021-22:
As we embrace, 2021-22 is the Birth Centenary year of our Most Ven. Dr. Acharya Buddharakkhita Mahathera. With the blessing of Triple Gem & Bada Bhanteji on this auspicious year, Mahabodhi Society has been scheduled various programs or plan to celebrate the various occasion in a meaningful way, to share the merit in the name of Most Ven. Bada Bhanteji.
On May 26th 2021, on occasion of Vesak Day Mahabodhi Research Centre organized one day Webinar for Diploma and Six Month Certificate Students, 25 students were presented their paper on different topics related to Life and Teaching of Buddha , Triple Blessed Event- Birth, Enlightenment and Mahaparinibbana.
22nd of September, On the occasion of 8th Smarananjali (Death Anniversary) of our Ven. Dr. Acharya Buddharakkhita Bhanteji , founder president of Mahabodhi Organisation, MBRC in collaboration with Karnataka Sanskrit University organized a One Day National Seminar topic on “LIFE, WORK & LEGACY OF Ven. Dr. ACHARYA BUDDHARAKKHITA MAHATHERA”. On this auspicious occasion Monks from Mahabodhi society presented their papers on different aspects of Bada Bhanteji life and his mission and vision through spiritual educational humanitarian activities.
Hon. Registrar,Prof. M Kotresh, Karnataka Sanskrit University (the then Registrar, Karnataka Sanskrit University), graced the occasion as Chief guest of this National level Seminar,
In the month of November, on line seminar was conducted for diploma and certificate students as part of their final exam qualification. It was highly enriching to students.
Every year we celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Our founder president Most Ven. Dr. Acharya Buddharakkhita Mahathera as Dhammapada Festival. On this auspicious occasion we organized One Day Seminar on the theme “Dhammapada: The Buddha’s Path to Global Peace, Harmony and Compassion”. On this occasion dignitaries Like Ven. Dr. Dhammapiya, General Secretary, IBC from New Delhi participated as Chief Guest Speaker, Prof. Dr. Mallepuram G Venkatesh, Retd. Vice Chancellor, Karnataka Sanskrit University, was the Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. U S Moorti, Retd. Professor, Tumkuru University, gave Key note address, Dr. Mythili P Rao, coordinator, Ph.D. Section, Jain University was the resource person. Above all Resource person presented their paper on the above said topic and enlightened the audience.
After this we have a technical session for the two Ph.D. Scholars of our MRC (Affiliated to Jain Deemed to be University) presented their paper on the above said theme.
SEMINAR ON BUDDHA PURNIMA: May 9th – 10th: 2022-23
Commemorating of Birth, Enlightenment and Mahaparinibbana
Every year we celebrate the BUDDHA JAYANTI (The Birth, Enlightenment, and Mahaparinibbana of Supreme Buddha) by coming together at Vihara. On occasion of 2566th Vesaka Buddha Purnima Mahabodhi Society and Mahabodhi Research Centre Organized week-long program called Bodhi Saptaha. As the inauguration of Bodhi Saptaha Mahabodhi Research Centre has organised a One Day International seminar on the theme “Living Legacy of Supreme Buddha – World Peace Through Inner Peace”. On this auspicious occasion Ven. Bhikkhu Maggavihara, Vice President. IIT Srilanka gave key note address, Swami Nityasthanandaji Maharaj, Chief Guest, President, Ramakrishna Math, Bull Temple Road, Bangalore delivered talk on the theme. On this occasion hundreds of upasakas and upasikas were gathered and get benefit from this conference.
On occasion of Vesak Day Mahabodhi Research Centre organized one day seminar for Diploma and Six Month Certificate Course Students, were students presented their paper on different topics related to Buddha’s Teachings.

Smaranjali Day, 17th of September 10th Respectful Remembrance Day of Most Ven. Dr. Acharya uddharakkhita Mahathera for the year – 2023-24
On occasion of 10th Smaranjali of our beloved teacher Most Ven. Dr. Acharya Buddharakkhita Mahathera, Mahabodhi Research Center organized a National Seminar on the topic “Contribution of Venerable Anagarika Dharmapala and Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita Mahathera – Pioneer in Revival of Buddhism in Modern India”. Bhikkhu Buddhadatta, Director, Mahabodhi Research Centre, presented the Seminar Concept Note and welcomes the guest. On this auspicious occasion well know dignitaries like Ven. Buddharakkhita Thero, abbot, Vipassana Meditation Centre, Member, Mahabodhi Society of India, Kolkata participated as the chief Guest, Sri. Manoj Jain, Secretary, Minority of Welfare Department, Govt. of Karnataka Inaugural Speech and highlighted the importance of Pali languagae, Dr. S Ahalya, Hon. Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru, gave Keynote address. Molakalmuru Srinivasmurthy, Former Asst. Commissioner, Commercial Tax Dept. and Tipitaka Translator were the special speaker, Dr. K Ramachandra, Principal, Mahabodhi Cluster University, was the Guest of Honour, Bhikkhu Ananda, and Buddhadatta Bhanteji. Ven. Bhikkhu Ananda gave vote of Thanks with Metta Chanting. The Hon. Vie-chancellor Smt. S. Ahalya has assured to provide necessary assistance to get the affiliation for the Bachelor and Master program in Buddhist Studies.
On January 12th a seminar cum book review on “Buddhara Kalada Bharatiya Samskruthi” translated by Dr. P V Narayana, a renowned kannada writer and scholar, an english translation of “Indian Culture in the Times of Buddha” written by Dr. A P De Zoysa. On this auspicious occasion well know dignitaries like Dr. P V Narayan, well known Kannada writer who released the book and gave lecture. Dr. Vasudev Murthy, Associate Professor, Adi Chunchanagiri University, Mandya was the chief guest, gave talk on the released book. Bhikkhu Ananda, General Secretary was presided the occasion and Dr. B V Rajaram, Director, Kannada Tipitaka Granthamala Project, was present at the occasion.
Vesakh Buddha Purnima, Seminar 17th May 2023 – May:
Mahabodhi Research Centre conducted an online International Symposium On the occasion of Vesakh Buddha Jayanti on 4th of May, on the Theme “SIGNIFICANCE OF VESAK BUDDHA DAY – TRIPLE BLESSED DAY” on Thursday, 6.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. which was graced by Ven. Kassapa Mahathera, president, Mahabodhi Society and Bhikkhu Buddhadatta, Director, Mahabodhi Research Centre.
On this auspicious occasion Ven. Phra Weerasak Suwannawong (Ajahn Tah) from Thailand Keynote Speaker, highlighting the importance of Vesak day in Thailand and the world, then Prof. Dr. Jagaralankara from Burma, also highlighted the three places connecting to Birth, Enlightenment, and Mahaparinibbana and gave glimpses of all three important places. Dr. K Ramachandra highlighted the Mahabodhi Society, Bengaluru, and the Contribution of Bada Bhante and spoke about how the Vesak is celebrated here in India and the work of Mahbodhi Research Centre. Dr. B V Rajaram gave Valedictory Message and thanked everybody.
Dhammapada Festival – 2024
On occasion of Dhammapada Festival, The Birth Anniversary of Most Ven. Acharya Buddharakkhita Mahathera, We Mahabodhi Society and Mahabodhi Research Centre honored Most Ven. Nivitigale Sumitta Thero, Founder of “Dhamma USA” University of the West Pali Society, California, USA and Dr . Ravindra Pant, Director Academics, International Buddhist Confederation, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, visited Mahabodhi Society and Mahabodhi Research Centre on occasion of Dhammapada Festival, as chief gusts on 24th of March.
